OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Company

Having been awarded several new contracts this well-established family owned Civil Contractor is currently recruiting for an experienced Bid Writer. The company act as both a Principal Contractor and a Tier One Contractor working in partnership with the UK’s largest construction companies. With a workforce of 200 multi-disciplined staff they are a market leader in providing high quality earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, drainage, highway works and hard landscaping.

They have a proven track record of working with clients to deliver fast-track projects in many varied sectors such as retail, health, education, transport, leisure and commercial.

Job Summary

As the Bid Writer you will be responsible for generating and developing new business opportunities in both the building and civil engineering market place and to maintain good relationships with existing clients. You will be responsible for;

  • Developing a proposal structure for responses to PQQ and tender bids
  • Prepare specific responses to “Quality Section” questions within tender and PQQ bids including; Outline Methodology Statements, Tender Programmes, Quality Plans, Social Value Proposals, Robust responses to Environmental and Sustainability questions
  • Respond to tenders and requests for information
  • Ensure all aspects of tender bids are captured and fully responded
  • Keep up to date with issues affecting competitors and developments within the construction industry
  • Ensure the Company’s image is positively portrayed to prospective clients
  • Be ultimately responsible for collating all tender deliverables in conjunction with the nominated bid team
  • Review, edit and self-check all PQQ/tender responses to ensure highest quality submissions
  • Follow up on all unsuccessful PQQ/Tender submissions to gain feedback from client
  • Work closely with and coordinate bid responses from other members of the delivery team such as estimators, HSQE dept and business development team.

The Person

  • HND or BSc Civil Engineering
  • Experience in successful tender bid submission
  • Several years’ experience in the civil engineering tender process
  • Excellent knowledge of all aspects of the civil engineering industry
  • Good knowledge of subjects associated with the construction industry such as Safety, Environment, Quality, Stakeholder Involvement, Sustainability, Social Value etc.
  • Demonstrable full knowledge of the PQQ and tender process
