Due to an increase in work load, our internationally recognised Engineering client based North of York are looking to expand their purchasing team by recruiting a Buyer. We are looking for an experienced candidate with a demonstrable background working within a buying/ purchasing role within an engineering / manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be required to manage all aspects of procurement within the supply base resulting in continuous output. You will need to ensure that all purchase orders are placed to ensure materials arrive in a timely manner to meet demand.
•Prepare daily MRP reports.
•Manage all MRP exception messages including rescheduling, cancellations and quantity amendments.
•Select most appropriate supplier and gain best price for all items particularly on quantity breakdowns.
•Placing of daily purchase orders in line with customer requirements.
•To expedite all relevant materials.
•To work with Planners on any material delays that will affect production output.
•To manage sub contract operations and free issue material to meet production demands.
•Management of the short term order report to coordinate accurate information for the daily/ weekly production meetings.
•To process purchase requisitions for the relevant value stream within agreed timescales.
•To utilize PIMS methodology to achieve business KPI’s.
Skills & Attributes
• Demonstrable experience within a purchasing role within an engineering/ manufacturing environment.
• Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
• Good understanding of an MRP system.
• Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook literate.
• Excellent communication skills.
