OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Manager for a 6-month contract on behalf of a local authority in the Lancashire area..

 

This is a hands-on role and you will be leading a small team responsible for implementing a wide range of accommodation transition projects. You will be experienced in delivering facilities, property and organisational change projects where you have developed and implemented strategic change and managed all aspects of transition; you will be experienced in the intelligent client function as the lead client to accommodation design and construction projects, move planning/relocation mobilisation projects and have a good grasp of the operational impact of design changes on accommodation in use. Demonstrable experience in applying the principles of PRINCE project and programme management methods are essential to the role.

 

Working closely with senior stakeholders this is a key role in leading the FM responsibilities in delivering the County Council’s property strategy. A high level of independent working using professional judgement and advanced management and leadership skills is required in designing and delivering multiple projects with conflicting deadlines.

 

It will be essential to have advanced knowledge and skills in project management and well-developed communication skills to give clear direction and work across multiple service teams at a senior and operational level and in regular dialogue with other lead officers across the property strategy work streams and wider operational services.

 

You will be required to visit numerous sites across Lancashire and will be required to have your own vehicle for use at work and be classified as an essential car user.

 

The post involves a number of key areas of responsibility including the following:

  • Development and delivery of property change programme managing key relationships including contractor relationships developing carefully programmed plans and logistics for various elements of works e.g. construction, ICT, removals, plant, building fit out, furniture and equipment, undertaking role as lead client in the design of major redevelopment plans.
  • Delivery of the FM work stream responsibilities of the property strategy, and delivery of multiple safe and risk free new working environments which comply with operational service delivery standards, legislative and regulatory requirements for a diverse range of front facing county council services including vulnerable children and adult services.
  • Key technical reference point interpreting technical drawings and implementing legislative requirements of property health and safety and Service best practice requirements of all occupying stakeholders, manage risks and ensuring governance throughout the delivery of the project work stream responsibilities.
  • Managing a small team of professional and business support staff
