OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager to work on a number of highways maintenance and improvement projects on behalf of a local authority.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in developing corporate and central government initiatives, to enable the City Council to deliver its services with full public participation.
  • Lead on the identification, development, design and implementation, of key major transport infrastructure initiatives and major maintenance.
  • Manage the overall work of the Team to ensure consistency of approach and quality output
  • Manage, monitor and support the partnership contractual arrangements.
  • Ensure that all projects delivered by the team are delivered on time, in budget and are value for money.
  • Check the quality of highway works implemented on the ground to ensure specifications are met.
  • Respond to enquiries on highways related issues.
  • Provide highways maintenance input into proposed highways and public realm schemes
  • Participate in all aspects of training and development of staff, including maintenance of disciplinary standards.
  • Develop the City Council’s commitment to equal opportunities and to promote non-discriminatory practices.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree or formal qualification (eg HNC/HND) in a technical discipline relevant to highway maintenance and streetworks
  • Project Management Experience
  • Contract Management experience relating to construction projects
  • Experience in a highway maintenance/network maintenance/streetworks environment
  • Financial Management
  • Experience of Local Transport Plan Process
  • Experience of working in a Quality Assured environment
  • Experience and understanding of contract delivery for highway related services.
