OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

An interesting and challenging opportunity to join this leading global EPCM working on a diverse range of High Technology projects, including Energy from Waste, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Power Generation. As the Proposals Manager you will be responsible for leading and managing bid teams to realise compelling submissions in response to ITT’s / PQQ’s / RFP’s / RFQ’s that provide the best technical solution and commercial offer whilst minimising the risks to the business should a contract be awarded.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and rank tender opportunities
  • Ensure that the bid team is properly briefed and that team members are aware of individual responsibilities, deliverables and key milestone dates
  • Actively lead and work with:
  • The bid team to ensure that the submission properly addresses the tender requirements
  • The Proposals Coordinator to compile a schedule of clarifications/opportunities and agree the overall content and presentation for the final submission
  • Lead, organise and attend any tender presentations and/or interviews with the client, ensuring that all attendees (including external consultants and/or subcontractors) are fully briefed and available
  • Appoint, or act as, a single point of contact with the client, as required, and distribute new information, RFIs and responses to the bid team
  • Lead, or delegate appropriately, response to client requests, collating any follow-ups and ensuring that a robust audit trail is available for such information
  • Organise and chair Project start-up /handover meeting to formally pass responsibility to the Project team.

The Person

  • Engineering experience within the construction sector ideally within technically demanding facilities such as Industrial builds, Hospitals, Schools, from a Main Contractor background
  • In-depth understanding and experience of bidding processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of private and public sector procurement strategies and routes to market
  • Demonstrable and successful experience of key project management skills:
  • Managing and driving outputs from immediate colleagues, cross-department colleagues, external consultants or subcontractors and other stakeholders
  • Time management – meeting key milestones and deliverables
  • Managing and reporting on risk
  • Prioritising workload according to risk profile and alignment with overarching business plan objectives
  • Working with and negotiating contract terms and conditions
  • Practised and confident in working under their own initiative and making decisions – willing to take responsibility for own actions within authorised limits
  • Practised and confident in the analysis and/or production of specifications in order to assist with the selection of suitable systems/materials plus accompanying workmanship standards
  • Practised, knowledgeable and confident (written and oral) communicator and presenter – with colleagues, clients, consultants and subcontractors alike
  • Practised and confident user of main MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint)

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
