OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to provide mechanical planned preventative maintenance and reactive services for Council and third party buildings and properties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical planned preventative maintenance and reactive services according to the scheduled programme and in response to emergencies and customer requirements for the Council’s and third party buildings.
  • Carry out inspections and report on all mechanical installations in Council buildings ensuring compliance with current H&S and legislative requirements e.g. Gas Safe
  • Direct on site staff and contractors to ensure customer requirements are met through good practice and compliance with H&S requirements.
  • Ensure that systems are designed and maintained in accordance with all health and safety requirements with due consideration to energy and water conservation.
  • Provide adequate planned preventative maintenance according to programme either directly or through the use of a suitable specialist supplier. Carry out reactive repairs in a timely and efficient manner in order to meet pre-determined targets of time, cost and quality.
  • Supervise contractors during the any installation and carry out site inspections for progress, appropriate technical content and quality of workmanship.
  • Comply with set quality standards and monitor their application to site works.
  • Carry out financial assessment for interim payments, monitor expenditure and prepare final accounts.
  • Direct Clerk of Works allocated to projects controlled.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Educated to HNC/HND standard in a Mechanical, Building Services or an Engineering subject, or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in the maintenance of mechanical installations in commercial, education and industrial premises
  • Experience in carrying out inspections and reporting on all mechanical installations gas, ventilation, air conditioning and other heating systems.
  • Experienced in supervising contractors during any installation and carrying out site inspections.
  • A proven ability to work to clear deadlines to ensure a planned preventative maintenance programme remains on target meeting statutory and regulatory compliance.
