Construction workers the most confident about keeping their jobs

Construction workers are currently more confident about their careers than people in any other UK industry, according to research carried out by social media site LinkedIn.

According to the LinkedIn Workforce Confidence Index those working in the construction industry are the most confident about their short term employment situation.

The latest LinkedIn survey results showed how workers feel about their ability to get and keep a job, to improve their financial situation and to advance in their careers.

The survey gives a score ranging from -100 to 100, with the latest data showing that the construction industry had a score of 24, followed by healthcare with a score of 21.

Two industries dipped into the negative, with a score of -1 for recreation and travel and -2 for media and communications.

The poll also asked how respondents thought their companies will fare six months from now, and the scores were negative across the board, with professionals in all industries believing their firms will be worse off by October.

Looking at the longer term, those in the software and IT services sector are the most optimistic about how their firms will fare two years from now.

The survey was based on a poll of 2,154 UK LinkedIn members over the weeks of 1-7 and 13-19 April.
