Job purpose:
Maintain and/or repair as necessary all types of diving umbilicals, diver’s hot water and other suits, lift bags, hose assemblies and survival kits in accordance with procedures and work instructions or as directed by Construction & Diving Systems Management.

Main accountabilities:
• Carry out the work according to the job cards provided
• Complete and sign job cards before returning to the Equipment & Logistics Supervisor
• Record all extra service/repair work for all equipment for which he is responsible
• Assemble, test and certify new systems when required in accordance with relevant procedures and standards
• Pass on certification details to the Certification & Administration Supervisor for input in the Asset Management System (AMS)
• Carry out all work in accordance with the requirements of current procedures, industry standards, codes of practice and relevant legislation
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of his work area by means of good housekeeping
• Diligently maintain his knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice
• Record all service/repair work for all equipment for which he is responsible
• Assemble new umbilicals when required in accordance with relevant procedures and standards
• Stop any work processes and/or equipment which is dangerous, incorrect or not producing fit for purpose work and bring it to the attention of his Workshop Supervisor
• Issue when appropriate certificates verifying equipment of the type under his responsibility as conforming to specification
• Contact suppliers and vendors of relevant equipment as necessary to:
• Review or propose equipment design or modification and maintenance/repair procedures
• Raise requisitions and pass on to the Certification & Administration Supervisor for input in the computerised Purchasing System after approval from the authorised Workshop Supervisor
• Work with and advise technicians of different disciplines and other personnel on umbilicals, diving suits, lift bags, Hose assemblies and survival kits
• To comply with the Business Management System (BMS)
• Report any unsafe acts or activities immediately
• Maintain clean, tidy and safe work environment
• Undertake any other duties as requested by the Workshop Supervisor


Typical background and experience required
Should possess:
Standard secondary school education
Understanding of Health Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements associated with equipment
Ability to be self-motivated as well as being a team player

Preferable:
Time served apprenticeship
