Based in central Huddersfield, the Senior Legal Officer will be rquired to appear in courts and tribunals; the local magistrates courts and county courts in Huddersfield and Dewsbury. You will provide advice, representation and advocacy services to internal clients in the fields of Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Housing, Employment, Licensing, Anti Social Behaviour and Education law along with contentious matters arising within the areas of Planning, Conveyancing, Company and Commercial. You will be a qualified solicitor, holding a current practising certificate or barrister with rights of audience and practical experience in one or more of the following general areas of work: Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation, Licensing Law and practical experience in one or more of the following specific areas of work: Advocacy in criminal proceedings; Advocacy in civil proceedings; Conudcting anti-social behaviour litigation either for the claimant or the defendant in relation to housing injunctions and posession proceedings. Experience of conducting ASBO litigation would be desirable. This is a temporary role for an initial 6 weeks which could be extended.
