OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

An interesting and rare opportunity to join this specialist company that designs, manufactures and Installs structures for the entertainment Industry. They deliver exciting and innovative projects within the creative industries, from Olympic Cauldrons to TV sets, from giant artworks to amazing structures. End clients include Google, The BBC, The Brits, Amazon, Netflix, and even governments of rarely visited nations.

Their work can be seen around the world and falls into the following categories: large scale events, theatre and TV sets, ceremonies, art installations and architectural pavilions.

They are a multi disciplined manufacturing facility spread over 14,000Sqm of estate. They are based in four giant hangars that house engineering, fabrication, woodwork, finishing and a specialist manufacturing facility.

The Project Management team is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of projects from conception through to completion. The Project Management team is instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects. This role also offers the opportunity for travel as many of the projects are installed around the world.

 

The Position

The Engineering Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing a wide variety of projects from the initial brief through to the installation on site and completion. Working closely with all other departments, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to prioritise, multitask, and build excellent working relationships with internal departments, external suppliers and our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clearly define the specifications for work packages for a project
  • Produce and manage enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers
  • Ensure suppliers schedule, quality assurance and documentation are produced and delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality
  • Update programmes of work, ensuring they are kept up to date and variations are clearly communicated to the relevant stakeholders
  • Work with internal departments and The Production Team to ensure projects are resourced adequately to meet project milestones
  • Provide engineering support
  • Actively monitor budgets throughout the project lifecycle
  • Work with the Production Management Team to oversee the relevant manufacturing processes through the production phase
  • Prepare loading & logistical plans to ensure projects are efficiently transported to & from site
  • Develop and manage procurement plans for all necessary materials, plant & services required for the project
  • Ensure all systems and procedures are followed with regard to the Quality Management System and Health & Safety Policy
  • Work with the Head of Design & Fabrication to receive designs to project programme
  • Ensure the Design Team receive accurate and complete information that relates to the design requirements of the project
  • Ensure that all company & statutory systems and procedures are followed with regards to Health & Safety
  • Assist with preparation of RAMS for all site and project work in a timely fashion

 

The Person

  • A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
  • Demonstrable project management or engineering experience
  • Experience of working to varying production deadlines & changing specifications
  • Positive attitude to work
  • Highly organised and able to work flexibly, under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Passionate, enthusiastic and driven
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours, so that these can be arranged to meet the needs of the business, particularly during busy periods of the year
  • Enthusiasm to support other areas of the Company as required
  • Planning experience

Advantageous

  • Experience of working in the large scale events, theatre and TV sets, ceremonies, art installations and architectural pavilions industries
  • Experience of writing risk assessments and method statements
  • Experience of managing budgets for projects
