OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Having been awarded several new contracts this leading Building Services Consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate Electrical Engineer to head up and manage various large scale Data Centre projects.

 

The Position

As the Associate Engineer you will be responsible for the running of major projects. Undertaking a Team Management role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. (Several building types). Duties will include;

  • Carrying out cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of fee bids.
  • Developing and specifying applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
  • Carrying out surveys, tests, dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations
  • Specifying activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
  • Representing the Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
  • Ensuring engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Leading on the coordination of engineering services
  • Taking a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions

 

Requirements

(Professional and technical expertise)

  • MCIBSE/MIEE or HNC/HND plus appropriate experience or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer status
  • Significant experience of specification design of Data Centres
  • Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
  • Appreciation & working knowledge of contract and business law
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Good understanding of BS standards/ UK Regulations/Codes
  • Experience and understanding of invoicing and credit control
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • An understanding of the Uptime Institute Tier rating System
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Leadership & Mentoring Skills
  • Presentation skills
  • Chairing / facilitation of meeting skills
