OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Company

Having been awarded several new contracts this well-established family owned Civil Contractor is currently recruiting for an experienced HSQE Manager. The company act as both a Principal Contractor and a Tier One Contractor working in partnership with the UK’s largest construction companies. With a workforce of 200 multi-disciplined staff they are a market leader in providing high quality earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, drainage, highway works and hard landscaping.

They have a proven track record of working with clients to deliver fast-track projects in many varied sectors such as retail, health, education, transport, leisure and commercial.

Job Summary

As the HSQE Manager you will be responsible for developing HSQE to achieve the mission of driving change, improving safety standards and initiating behavioural transformation within the company culture.

You will be responsible for;

  • Managing the Company’s HSQE management/compliance issues
  • Assist the Senior HSQE Manager in ensuring that the HSQE policies and procedures of the Company compliment the growth and current business model
  • Work with managers and the Senior HSQE Manager on continuous improvement of HSQE measures ensuring best practice to meet the changing needs of the business
  • Assist in the preparation, delivery and process of tender submission/client presentations when required.
  • Assist in the Company audit plans and provide support and assistance during third party audits
  • Work with the Supply Chain Department to evaluate sub-contractors
  • Manage the training requirements of the business and monitor refresher training
  • Develop the ability to promote NVQ training within the business to meet CITB plant and occupation qualifications
  • Assist the Transport Manager in the daily operation of the vehicles and plant

The Person

  • NEBOSH &/or IOSH qualifications
  • Significant experience in an HSQE management role combined with a comprehensive knowledge of HSQE issues
  • A track record in developing the HSQE function across a large number of sites in an operational / contractor environment
  • A detailed knowledge of HSQE law and changes in HSQE practice and their impact on HSQE and change management
  • Understanding of the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of the CDM Regulations
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, internet, e-mail
  • Able to implement HSQE policies for a large operational organisation
