COVID-19 Testing Extended to Construction Workers

Health Secretary Matt Hanock has announced that construction workers are among those who can be tested for the virus.

‘From construction workers to emergency plumbers, from research scientists to those in manufacturing, the expansion of access to testing will protect the most vulnerable and help keep people safe.‘ – Matt Hanock, Health Secretary

The move to offer testing to construction workers comes after pressure from the Unite trade union. They said that all people who are working during the lockdown should be eligible for COVID-19 testing.

The government has pledge to carry out 100,000 tests a day across the UK, but latest figures show that are not even hitting half of this target.

Construction workers can book a test by visiting the government test-booking website.
