Proposed moves will allow building sites allowed to stay open late and at weekends

Construction sites will be allowed to stay open late and during the weekends in a proposed move by the government to help firms get back to work and avoid the worsening impact COVID-19 has had on the UK economy.

This move would temporary override the measures that prohibit construction work being carried out at night and on Sundays.

The move would help construction forms catch up on projects that were delayed by the lockdown.

Last week Taylor Wimpey became one fo the first businesses to announce they were resuming work and reopening sites. This was due to them formulating a way to restart construction work safely. They are planning to reopen the majority of its sites in England and Wales. They will keep Scottish sites closed in accordance with the Scottish guidelines.
