OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Brief description:

An interesting and challenging opportunity to join this leading global EPCM working on a diverse range of High Technology projects, including Energy from Waste, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear and Power Generation. In this role the successful candidate will be acting as the LEAD Buyer Electrical Generation and Distribution Systems for the business and will be located in Europe.

The Role

  • Tasks range from defining, communicating and implementing a global sourcing strategy to negotiating cross-regional frame agreements for Electrical Generation and Distribution Systems commodities, such as steam turbine generators, gas compressors, switchgear, transformers, generators, cables, VFD’s and other significant equipment.
  • Through a market screening and trend identification for globally sourced commodities, you will be responsible for selecting and developing key suppliers for the commodities and perform commodity cost benchmarks.
  • Understand and manage specification variability in all regions in order to align them with the global sourcing strategy.
  • Recognize regional contracting constraints dictated by the customers who use their own preferred suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier performance ratings (assessments) and initiate assessments on a project level.
  • Run cross regional RFI’s and RFQ’s for the specified commodities, preparing bid evaluation and lead negotiations.
  • Recommend bidders and decide on suppliers together with project buy and project management in alignment with the project procurement plans and Global Procurement strategies

Another main task will be to develop and maintain the future demand for the respective commodities (Budget & Forecast) inside the company which will be done with an analysis and structuring of the purchasing market of the commodities for Electrical Generation and Distribution Systems.

The Person

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Several years of procurement leadership experience, ideally in a relevant industry
  • Experience with ERP and SRM tools such as SAP, Oracle and Ariba.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ideally engineering background (technical training) and solid understanding of Electrical Generation Systems
  • Excellent product and market know-how
  • Solid understanding of an EPC / project environment
  • Preferably detailed knowledge of the commodities for Electrical Generation Systems at regional and global levels
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of Electrical Generation Systems
  • Good understanding of production background (volumes/production locations) of the commodities
  • for Electrical Generation Systems

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
