OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth and successfully being awarded several new contracts this award winning multi-disciplinary consultancy has an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to operate from their Exeter office.

 

The Role

In this role you will work alongside industry professionals to deliver a portfolio of projects.  The appointed person will be responsible for leading the Structural Engineering of projects/workstreams including the commercial performance whilst also managing and maintaining client relationships and mentoring junior members of staff.

As appropriate for the experience of the successful candidate, you will be offered training and support to attaining industry standard qualifications whilst developing and taking on an increasing level of responsibility.

As the Structural Engineer you will be responsible for the management and delivery of projects and will promote and maintain relationships.

 

The Person

  • Chartered membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers (or equivalent) or actively working towards attaining this
  • Degree level (or equivalent) qualification in an engineering related discipline
  • Capable of effectively and autonomously managing your own projects and client workstreams with a desire to contribute to a multi-disciplined team
  • Proven experience in a commercial engineering position with all main materials, including steel, timber and masonry
  • Relevant sector experience would be highly beneficial, delivering designs across Education, Leisure and Housing
  • Knowledge of primary design codes, including Eurocode design and British Standards
  • Proficient in the use of relevant design software for the role
  • Ability to lead and deliver the health and safety/CDM aspects of projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, with the ability to pick up new systems and processes quickly
  • Excellent communication skills, confident engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to use Tekla and Revit would be advantageous but is not essential
