OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are currently recruiting on behalf on an international manufacturing business based in Worsley who are looking to recruit an experienced Tactical Purchasing Manager on a Permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working within a purchasing management within the manufacturing/ distribution sector with a solid working knowledge of SAP. Due to a recent implementation of SAP into the business, the successful candidate will be involved in streamlining current processes and implementation of new processes moving forward. You will need to ensure that all purchase orders are placed to ensure materials arrive in a timely manner to meet demand.

Role Description

  • Directly manage a team responsible for buying both direct and indirect goods and services.
  • Manage and improve the purchase order (PO) issuing process and follow-up with approval compliance process, Open PO reporting communication to suppliers in support of materials expediting and inventory control.
  • Define the and constantly improve the process of managing exceptions to avoid obsolete material and guarantee the correct material delivery and inventory control.
  • Ensure material availability with correct timing to support site production.
  • Work with the Stores team to ensure that all aspects of parts presentation (documentation labelling and packaging facilitate timely and accurate receipt and putaway.
  • Ensure Inventory stock levels availability; support operation initiatives on the same activity driven by the regional planning teams to achieve end to end supply chain optimisation.
  • Manage, in agreement with the Strategic Sourcing Project Lead, a replenishment strategy definition and review process.
  • Monitor and report on Supplier on time delivery (OTD) and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with site associates and engage with vendors to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • •Contribute to new product introduction for new components and depletion process for obsolete materials.
  • Ensure data reliability for Customs compliance through Requests for Information (RFI) follow ups with vendors and with Emerson compliance teams (Country of Origin, HS codes etc.).
  • Ensure vendor and material master data updates for process approval.
  • Be the main point of escalation for Operations regarding supplier performance issues such as deliveries and quality.
  • Complete and update price variances on SAP and Basware.

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous demonstrable experience working within a Purchasing/ Supply Chain Management role within the Manufacturing/ Distribution sector
  • CIPS qualifications would be advantageous.
  • Strong people management skills
  • Solid working knowledge of SAP ( Ideally with experience working on implementation and process improvement )
  • Excellent communication skills.
