OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

We are looking to recruit a Junior Production Engineer to join a leading Manufacuturing/ Engineering business based north of York. This position has been created due to growth in the business and backlog in orders therefore looking for help with materials control and progress chasing of outstanding componenets. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within engineering / manufacturing environment, ideally with knowledge of numberous manufacturing techniques (Mechanical/ Electrical Assembly and Testing (NDT/ Pressure Testing)).

This role would suit a candidate looking to move into a process improvement type role within a manufacturing based environment.

Candidates will ideally be familiar working with MRP’s ( SAP/Navision/ Sage) and be proactive in their approach to work,

Hours – Monday – Thursday 0830 – 1630 – Friday 0830 – 1600

Overtime available at premium rates after 38 hours

Role Description

  • Ensures assembly/sub-assembly build times are met to maintain department efficiency target of 100%.
  • Ensures assembly/sub assembly build times are met for major project schedule into integration dates and component/spares WO completion dates.
  • Ensure on-time delivery to support Forum customer requirements
  • Ensure all components are to correct quality standards of manufacture & testing
  • Complete all necessary documentation according to the requirements, (including timesheets, ECN, NCR …etc.)
  • Identify appropriate component and sub-assembly stock holding for identified component and spare parts
  • Embrace LEAN principles to ensure the quality, cost and lead time.
  • Use LEAN tools to eliminate waste from manufacture process.
  • Perform limited troubleshooting of assemblies.
  • Arrange for testing of assemblies and sub-components
  • Use Navision to track and report on manufacture status

Skills & Attributes

  • Experience working in a Manufacturing/ Engineering Environment ideally with exposure to expediting/ Process improment.
  • NVQ/ HNC Qualified within an Engineering/ Manufacturing Discipline.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage work pressure.
  • Good understanding of an MRP system ( Ideally Navision).
  • Excellent communication skills
