OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Having been awarded several new lucrative contracts this national Building Services Contractor is recruiting for an experienced Building Services Estimator. This is a challenging and interesting position to join a rapidly expanding business. You will be involved in a range of Retail and Health projects, ranging in value from £100K to £5M in value. Due to their prestigious client base they have continued to grow throughout the pandemic and have a very healthy order book for 2021 and into 2022.

 

The Position

  • Receive tender enquiry up to £5M
  • Read specification and documentation and copy drawings required. Produce folder for estimate on PC/Estimating package with tender details
  • Prepare “Request for Quotation Letters” to be sent to manufacturers and supplies with drawings
  • Take off drawing quantities and load on PC/Estimating package
  • Prepare tender documents and qualifications letter for offer to client
  • Attend pre mid or post tender interviews
  • Consult with client and line-manager re possible negotiations and commercial decisions in order to obtain orders and letter of intent
  • Attend any pre-contract meetings to qualify programme, scope of works and sub-contractor details
  • Hand over projects to Account Manager including better buying targets
  • Read and understand main contractor terms and conditions and advise any issues in contract before tender process proceeds
  • Read, understand and implement the Company Health and Safety Policy and QA at all times

 

The Person

  • A good all round standard of education including literacy and numeracy
  • IT skills essential
  • NVQ Level 3 Mechanical or Electrical
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in Estimating works
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of standard commercial communications
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and statutory bodies
  • Accuracy and precision in preparation of documents
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
