OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

My client, a leading international manufacturing/engineering business in North Yorkshire, are looking to recruit a Supervisor to lead their Pressure testing department on a permanent basis. This role has been created due to growth within the department with addition of new testing facilities.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable background within mechanical testing with experience in leading a team. Alongside supporting the testing department you will also be responsible for overall maintenance of the testing equipment and associated logs for compliance.

This is a days based role Monday – Friday

Role Description

  • Promote safe working practices and lead by good example.
  • Ensure you understand and comply with your HSE responsibilities as detailed in the H&S Policy and Company Procedure.
  • Resolve any compliance issues with your line manager or the QHSE department.
  • Ensure the H&S competency of contractors/sub-contractors, hired to work on any operational activity under your control, are properly assessed and supervised.
  • Supervision of shop personnel.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
  • Assist with work load projections and the necessary labour resources and equipment.
  • Effectiveness of shop operations, adherence to prescribed quality and workmanship standards.
  • Control of waste and scrap, safe working practices, and good housekeeping.
  • Development and maintenance of shop work standards that are used to plan shop activities and measure shop performance.
  • Monitor and improve productivity in all areas.
  • Maintain records and ensure adherence to test equipment PM scheme.
  • Manage the internal & external testing and provide technical support as required.
  • Supervision of the pressure testing facility to include the following;
    • Client liaison.
    • Coordinate tests.
    • Preparation and review of risk assessment
    • Control and coordinate records and main calendar.
    • Write quotes using standard template
    • Compile costing.

Candidate Skills

•Time Served Mechanical Engineer
• Working knowledge of Mechanical / Hydraulic systems
• Previous experience in Hydrostatic pressure testing
• Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment
• Safety Conscious and able to follow SOP’s

• Previous experience working within a lead/ supervisory role
