OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Commercial Manager on behalf of an established market leader and provider of water treatment technologies to all municipal water companies in the UK and Ireland. Their products and services help protect the health of the rivers, seas and drinking water which we all rely on.

Operating for over 25 years, they are part of a bigger group made up of 5 companies. This company has over 150 members of staff working for it. They provide solutions for water management, waste water treatment, clean water treatment and surface water management.

Their head office is based in Cornwall and they are a Tier 1 contractor for all major water utility companies. They are the largest manufacturer of static and mechanical CSO screens in Europe. They manufacture flood management products, large scale sewage treatment tanks and filtration products. They offer the full package which is planning, design, manufacture, through to installation and commissioning.

Ideal location is candidates based from Head Office in Cornwall. However they also have offices in Wolverhampton and Barnsley, and can consider remote based people. You would be required to visit the Head Office in Cornwall every 4 – 6 weeks. Hotel costs etc would be covered.

You will be a key member of the Commercial team to secure new business with a timely response for optimal profit and acceptable risk and optimise in-contract commercial opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming NEC contracts using the internal contract review template to identify areas of non-conformance and work with the Area Manager to negotiate with the customer to achieve an acceptable profit and risk appetite,
  • Liaise with internal teams to secure and confirm resources for project work to support the contract approvals process.
  • Act as an advisor to the Projects team on NEC contractual issues and Compensation Event (change control) identification and costing.
  • Peer review certain tender proposals and act as final sign-off for some contracts (Authority level to be agreed)
  • Develop a sound working knowledge of the company’s technologies (training will be provided).
  • Maintain awareness of the different contracts in current use in the industry (training will be provided)

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Experience of commercial contract review and risk assessment (does not have to be NEC or Engineering contracts)
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Experience of NEC or IchemE contracts
  • Quantity Surveyor experience would be beneficial
