OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Are you a Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering hospital projects? This is an excellent opportunity to join a multi-award-winning contractor with a strong, long-standing pipeline of NHS work.

The Company

Our client is a well-established, award-winning mechanical, electrical and construction contractor. It often operates as principal contractor and has the in-house capability to design, build and maintain projects from start to finish. Much of its work is repeat business with long-standing public sector clients, particularly within the NHS. It combines the stability of a large contractor with the values and culture of a family business.

Following continued growth, the company has recently opened a new regional office covering Yorkshire. This is a newly created position, giving you a real opportunity to help shape and grow the regional operation from an early stage.

The Role

As Construction Project Manager, you will lead healthcare projects valued between £1m and £3m across the Yorkshire region. Many will be delivered in live hospital environments, where careful phasing, infection control and keeping clinical services running are critical. As an early member of the regional team, you’ll also play an important part in building client relationships and establishing the company’s reputation in the area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects from pre-construction through to handover, delivering on time, on budget and to a high standard of quality
  • Act as the main point of contact for NHS trusts, estates teams and other stakeholders
  • Plan and phase works in occupied, live hospital environments
  • Manage site teams, subcontractors and the supply chain
  • Take responsibility for health and safety, including RAMS, CDM compliance and infection control (HTM/HBN requirements)
  • Monitor programme, cost and change, working alongside the commercial team
  • Oversee quality, commissioning, handover and O&M documentation

Requirements

  • Essential: a proven track record of managing hospital or healthcare construction projects valued between £1m and £3m
  • Strong knowledge of working in live healthcare environments, including HTMs, HBNs and infection control procedures
  • SMSTS, a valid CSCS card and a first aid qualification
  • A construction-related qualification (HNC, HND or degree) is desirable
  • Excellent leadership, planning and client communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence

What’s on Offer

  • A salary of £55,000 – £65,000, depending on experience
  • A car or car allowance
  • A pension and bonus scheme
  • A permanent role with an award-winning, growing contractor
  • A secure pipeline of healthcare work with long-standing NHS clients
  • Genuine opportunities for career progression
