OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Company

Our client is a well-established and respected Mechanical Services Contractor who are involved in the installation of commercial and domestic heating and plumbing systems with a particular specialism in occupied council dwellings. They have worked for a host of public sector and private clients including Lewisham Council, the Metropolitan Police, Royal Holloway University London, HMP Elmley, Wandsworth Council and most recently, Kent County Council. The management team has worked together for nearly four decades and collectively they bring more than 100 years of industry experience to the business.

 

Job Outline

As the Contracts Manager you will be responsible for managing M&E contracts, handling all project stages from set-up to completion ensuring that all issues are identified, planned for and managed. Overseeing the site manager and directly managing PAYE staff and sub-contractors. Liaising with the client and relevant parties. Responsible for the implementation of health and safety arrangements and ongoing monitoring. Supporting the senior management team with tender applications and business development.

 

Person Specification

Education

  • Professional qualification or Trade qualified i.e. plumber, fitter, heating engineer
  • Member of Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers
  • SMSTS qualified or equivalent

Experience

  • Track record in mechanical services industry i.e. heating, plumbing
  • Project management
  • Line management of PAYE staff and sub-contractors
  • Client relationship management and development
  • Negotiation with clients and contractors
  • Conversant with contract documents, estimating and valuation processes and material procurement
  • Tender applications

Knowledge

  • Industry Regulations
  • Design specifications and ongoing development during a project
  • Current systems i.e. energy efficiency
  • Knowledge of electrics, building control systems, ventilation and air conditioning
  • Microsoft packages
