OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading specialist manufacturer supplying high end machinery to a world market in sectors including Aerospace, Automotive and Marine. Working at the cutting edge within their specialised technology this is an exciting opportunity to integrate the latest innovations and thinking into what can be perceived to be a relatively unknown process.

 

The Position

The Mechanical Design Engineer’s responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying customer requirements
  • Specification and design machine parts
  • Collaboration with members of the production team and customers
  • The ability to work effectively as a member of a team with minimal supervision
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing tolerances and the ability to perform tolerance calculations.
  • Maintain up to date technical records
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation Special requirements
  • The position is based at their manufacturing facility in North East Yorkshire but will involve travel throughout the UK and world may be required occasionally for site assessments and post installation reviews

 

The Person

  • High level engineering qualification (& preferably hands on engineering experience)
  • Proven ability with Solidworks for 3D modelling and creating detailed drawings
  • Customer focused project management skills
  • Ideally with a degree or with a vocationally educated (HND/HNC) apprenticeship.
  • A proven understanding of engineering machinery design & automation is a key requirement of this role
