OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Project Manager on behalf of a leading global engineering, construction and project management company. Their specialist market sectors are in the fields of Advanced Technology Facilities, Life Science & Chemicals, Energy & Environment Technologies and High-Tech Infrastructure.

The Mechanical Project Manager will take the lead on all mechanical related tasks on a multi-million pound Energy from Waste project ensuring that all aspects of the installation are completed on time and in budget.
Responsibilities

  • Management of all mechanical aspects of a multi-million pound, high technology project.
  • Organising a network of engineers, sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Ordering materials and equipment for projects
  • Liaising closely with clients to ensure smooth running of projects
  • Supervision of site operatives on site
  • Ensure that company procedures are complied with and that relevant information is communicated with the project staff
  • Develop relationships with the client and potential clients along with their respective advisors
  • Work with the Operations Director ensuring that the projects are adequately staffed by qualified and experienced staff.
  • Maximise the project margin & control costs
  • Ensure that the company is protected during contract negotiations, on-site works and post contract discussions
  • Lead by example setting the required standards of behaviour and conduct for the project
  • Liaise with the procurement lead during the tender/negotiation/construction period
  • Manage the programme of works

 

Skills and Experience

  • Degree/HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Ideally be Prince 2 trained/hold a Prince 2 qualification.
  • Previous experience managing high tech, multi-million pound projects.
  • Mechanical background and qualifications with onsite installation experience
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Full UK driving license.
