The Opportunity
Our Client is a leading heat network consultancy playing a leading role in the decarbonisation of
heat in the UK. They have established themselves as the leading experts on how to specify, design, deliver and operate low temperature heat networks. They provide end-to-end expertise in the development of district heating networks, from feasibility assessments to the detailed design of city-wide schemes. Due to ongoing growth, they are seeking a Metering, BMS & Data Compliance Engineer to support growth, market-position and brand.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the design and technical specification of metering and monitoring systems, including overall metering strategy, selection of meters, data loggers, sensors and communication protocols.
- Integrate systems into the BMS and ensure alignment with client-side analytics or billing platforms.
- Develop wiring diagrams, data flow diagrams, commissioning plans and system documentation.
- Conduct site surveys to identify gaps in data required to meet specified KPIs.
- Provide quality assurance of installation and commissioning of metering systems conducted by third parties.
- Troubleshoot metering issues related to connectivity, data dropout, misconfigurations or installation faults.
- Ensure data from meters is reliably collected via a variety of protocols.
- Set up and validate connections between physical metering devices, BMS platforms, and backend systems (e.g. Guru Hub, SAV KURVE, Evinox platforms).
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve data quality, system performance and reporting reliability.
- Support internal teams in interpreting and troubleshooting metering data issues.
- Interface with manufacturers and suppliers on firmware issues, custom configurations, and connectivity support.
- Produce detailed technical documentation, test plans, and troubleshooting guidance.
- Map data flows from the metering and BMS.
The Person
The successful candidate should possess the following key areas;
- Strong experience in heat network metering systems and monitoring technology.
- Proficient with BMS and meter communication protocols.
- Hands-on experience integrating systems into BMS platforms, particularly Trend.
- Ability to work independently on site to investigate and resolve technical faults.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience with some of the common remote heat metering data platforms (e.g. Guru Systems,
- Switch2, SAV KURVE, Evinox).
- Knowledge of firmware upgrades, data validation techniques and IoT networking.
- Experience with billing integration or energy analytics software.
