OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager on behalf of an established market leader and provider of water treatment technologies to all municipal water companies in the UK and Ireland. Their products and services help protect the health of the rivers, seas and drinking water which we all rely on.

Operating for over 25 years, they are part of a bigger group made up of 5 companies. This company has over 150 members of staff working for it. They provide solutions for water management, waste water treatment, clean water treatment and surface water management.

Their head office is based in Cornwall and they are a Tier 1 contractor for all major water utility companies. They are the largest manufacturer of static and mechanical CSO screens in Europe. They manufacture flood management products, large scale sewage treatment tanks and filtration products. They offer the full package which is planning, design, manufacture, through to installation and commissioning.

Ideal location is candidates based from Head Office in Cornwall. However they also have offices in Wolverhampton and Barnsley, and can consider remote based people. You would be required to visit the Head Office in Cornwall every 4 – 6 weeks. Hotel costs etc would be covered.

As the Project Manager you would be responsible for delivering customer-facing projects on time, in full, in budget, maximising commercial benefit and reducing risk to acceptable levels (including maintaining excellent standards of health and safety).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for project delivery on time, in full, in budget (OTIFIB) on a range of concurrent projects
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders to collaborate and secure resources.
  • Be the main interface with the customer
  • Regular UK and Ireland site visits estimated at one site per month.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain to interlock suppliers assigned to the projects
  • Maintain an active documented project plan with work-breakdown structure
  • Maintain an active documented detailed cost plan (actuals and forecast) and invoicing schedule, including invoices raised on time
  • Issues Early Warning Notices and respond to Compensation Events, including commercially acceptable terms and an updated project plan
  • Evaluate and manage warranty claims and confirmed project close-out.
  • Reporting of any Quality, Health & Safety or Environmental (QHSE) concerns is a universal requirement of all staff members. Regardless of role and expertise, if something doesn’t look right, raise it.
  • Maintain and keep up to date the project database (MS Dynamics 365).
  • Provide a monthly summary report to the Head of Project Management and the Group Accountant highlighting project achievements, latest project work-breakdown structure, project risks (with proposed mitigations) and total project cost forecast.
  • Provide an up to date programme plan to the customer when requested, or when required for Early Warning Notices or Compensation Events.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Relevant experience within the water industry
  • Experience of working within the NEC3 project management framework
  • Ability to read and interpret complex industry related technical documents, such as Engineering Specifications, Mechanical Fabrication Drawings, and Contracts (normally NEC or IchemE contracts)
  • Ability to identify areas of risk on a project and develop strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Must be able to communicate on a technical level, verbally and in writing, and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and reliably.
  • Knowledge of principles of Project Management.
