OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Engineer on behalf of a national provider of back-up power solutions. The company are based in Leeds but provide nationwide coverage for their clients across the UK.

Operating for over 60 years, they have grown significantly as a business and gained a reputable name for their high-quality work within the industry.

We are ideally looking for candidates who have good experience in maintaining and servicing a various range of diesel generator engineers. Previous experience working on generators such as Perkins, Cummins, FG Wilson and John Deere would be advantageous.

As the Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering team and the maintenance and installation of diesel generators.

 

Role Description

  • Taking charge and project managing large or technical installations, rebuilds or major repairs with the support of the management team and required specialists.
  • Attending site meetings as and when required by the management team.
  • Carrying out competency assessments of the engineering team as and when required by the management team.
  • Assisting the sales team and parts team in the preparations of quotes.
  • Carry out minor and major services to diesel engine generator sets at customer sites.
  • Visit customer sites and perform diesel generator installations.
  • Carry out site surveys in order to assist in project design and proposals.
  • Perform commissioning at customer sites in liaison with electrical contractors.
  • Control system wiring.
  • Ad hoc tasks within the workshop.
  • Attend relevant product training courses.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Generator Field Service Engineer.
  • Ideally strong knowledge of diesel generators such as Perkins, Cummins, FG Wilson, John Deere, Scania etc.
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 17th/18th edition would be beneficial.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to use own initiative aswell as part of a team.
