Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Mechanical Engineer on behalf of an international company who manufacture and install products to water and wastewater treatment plants. They have over 125 years’ experience in designing and producing water treatment systems.

They have a number of offices across the world and their UK office is based in Rochdale. They manufacture screw pumps, aerators, fine screens and screw turbines. They have a worldwide reputation for been the largest manufacturer of screw pumps. Their clients include water authorities and tier 1 contractors.

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Mechanical Engineer to join the team, taking real responsibility for technical elements of a wide variety of projects.  You will be fully supported by the experienced team to grow and develop your skills as well as knowledge of their products.

The role is based at their offices in Rochdale (Monday to Friday) however there will be a requirement for site visits, which are pre-planned and agreed, with possible over-night stays required. During these visits they may be a requirement to go into a Confined Space area (training will be provided) on wastewater sites.

This is a permanent position, working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week, paying £28k – £30k per annum depending on experience. Perks also include 25 days annual leave + bank holidays + generous defined contribution pension of 10% + medical insurance + training & development opportunities etc.

Responsibilities

• Design and procure mechanical parts, such as components of bearing assemblies, guarding, lubrication systems etc.
• Prepare drawings for layouts and lifting of equipment.
• Carry out technical assessments of screw pump bearings and write up reports.
• Arrange quotes for refurbishment and repair of equipment.
• Organise and order parts for projects.

Skills & Attributes

• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar – at apprenticeship, HNC/D or graduate level.
• Experience of AutoCAD or equivalent drawing packages.
• Ability to improve processes, and work effectively with others to implement changes.
• Close attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with clients and suppliers.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
