OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established, national M&E Contractor delivering multi-million pound projects for the hospitality, healthcare, retail, residential, commercial, industrial and leisure sectors. Expansion has created an opportunity for an experienced Building Services BIM Co-ordinator.

 

The Position

As the BIM Coordinator you will be responsible for

  • Reviewing the design brief with a senior design engineer and understanding the general issues.
  • Raising any issues that will need to be clarified so that the design can progress.
  • Knowing where to find the latest design standards, building regulation requirements, and general service installation practices.
  • Being capable of considering access, future maintenance space and incorporating the requirements into any design.
  • Understanding how to lay out plant rooms, risers, plant decks etc to provide safe working access.
  • Assess client issued drawings with a senior design engineer, and review for structural implications to design.
  • Preparing a drawing register for incoming and proposed outgoing drawings.
  • Following a design checklist for monitoring of the design process.
  • Commencing system layout from rough sketches by the engineer in Revit, taking into account the space requirements, and co-ordination with other mechanical/electrical systems and other trades.
  • Requesting and utilising architects reflected ceiling plans for layout of vent.
  • Identifying of space requirements and the need for bases and supporting structures for plant and equipment
  • Taking current building regulation requirements into account.
  • Assisting in the production of co-ordinated services drawings ensuring compliance with the industry drawing standards.
  • Preparing plant, fan, grille, attenuator and sanitary ware schedules.

 

The Person

The successful candidate should be able to

  • Be a competent user of Autodesk Revit for: Creation of services drawings, Creation of schematics, Coordination of multiple services.
  • Able to define builders work that are necessary to enable the installation and maintenance of the design.
