OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer on behalf of a specialist utility services company who provide installation, maintenance, metering and billing services to customers throughout the Uk.

The Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the supply, commissioning and installation of a range of pay-as-you go metering systems on new build residential sites throughout the Uk.

 Role Description

  • Supporting and commissioning a range of market leading Pay-As-You-Go metering systems, mainly installed in new build construction sites on domestic heat networks (residential).
  • Using a laptop and tablet device to commission metering equipment, update records and systems.
  • Installing IT Gateways & Radio Frequency (RF) equipment.
  • Problem solving and fault- finding issues on site and liaising with other trades and the main contractor.
  • Liaise with & report to site staff (clients, principle contractors, consultants & heating/plumbing sub- contractors) representing the company whilst at development sites
  • Mainly working on new build construction sites (residential) with some reactive callouts to occupied homes.
  • Installing, supporting and managing data logging equipment and routers.
  • Downloading & collating data from remote data loggers and other sources.
  • Importing & validating data and generating internal reports for use in utility billing systems.
  • Liaising with 3rd parties e.g. our cloud service provider, BT or other ISP’s and clients & contractors.
  • Ensure all stock and tools are booked out before taking to site, in line with correct procedures and processes.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Previous experience of installing and commissioning metering equipment.
  • Experience of fault finding on a range of pay-as-you go metering systems
  • Previous Telecomms or some previous IT experience would be ideal but not essential.
  • Must hold CSCS card (or able to get one).

Desirable

  • Cat 5e/6 cabling termination experience
  • Competent with using multimeters
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve ADSL issues on and off-site
  • Router, VPN, subnetting experience
  • Good all-round IT troubleshooting skills
  • Clean driving licence
