The Opportunity

Our client is a leading electrical engineering and contracting company based in West Yorkshire. They work on a local and national basis for many blue chip companies within industrial and manufacturing environments, including Voltage Optimisation, switchgear upgrades, ATEX and Machine Automation. Due to continued expansion they are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to join their team.

The Position

As the Electrical Project Engineer you will enjoy a varied workload with projects carried out from small works to circa £1 million pound industrial and commercial schemes. Ideally you will have knowledge of power distribution in LV and HV systems. You will be involved in all stages of projects from initial enquiry to preparing quotations through to delivery and ensuring customer satisfaction.

You will be required to attend site surveys and meetings, etc. throughout the country, this may include overnight stays where required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Liaise with clients to understand their needs in order to develop estimates and design
• Prepare detailed estimates for pre-designed and full design and build projects valued to £1m
• Take off quantities from drawings and input information onto the Estimating System
• Must be commercially focused and identify financial risks within projects
• Attend pre-tender, post-tender and site meetings with clients
• Secure contracts and act as project manager after pre-order meetings
• Work to tight deadlines and manage own workload
• Liaise with customers regarding quotations to answer any queries

The Person

The most important skills you should possess include problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical and critical thinking capabilities. You should be a strong communicator and team member who can also work independently.

Essential requirements;

• An industry applicable electrical ONC/HNC/B.Eng.
• 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• In-depth knowledge of BS7671
• Commercial and contractual awareness
• Trustworthy and ethical approach, exercising discretion where required
• Organised, structured and professional, with a passion for excellence
• Flexibility, resilience and the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
• Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
