OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

Due to expansion, we are currently recruiting for electricians on behalf of a well established electrical engineering contractor who offer services including lighting, power and distribution, as well as more specialist work such as control and automation.

Operating for over 35 years, they work on a local and national basis for many blue chip companies.  An increasingly large part of their work is in Atex (Explosive) areas within manufacturing environments, Voltage Optimisation Installations and Machine Automation.

As an Industrial Electrician you should also excel in installing various types of industrial equipment and different size and type of cabling and containment systems plus repairing and maintaining electrical systems.

These are permanent positions working Monday to Friday, 8am – 4:30pm. They have a large amount of overtime available. The average engineer does around 55 hours a week but can go higher if you want the overtime. Overtime is paid at X1.5 over 8 hours per day, then sat AM x1.5 for first 4 hours then x2.0 after that and all day Sunday is x2.0

Perks also include van & fuel card, door to door travel, pension and 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays but additional added bi-annually for length of service. They also offer career development which includes Compex, Testing & Inspection and HNC/HND.

Please be aware there is an element of working away involved. Hotels are booked and paid for, and you will get your own room which is usually in Premier Inns. You will also receive a daily allowance of £30 to allow for meals etc.

 

Responsibilities

  • Installation, Maintenance and Fault Finding of industrial electrical equipment.
  • Ensure the Client and Team are ‘kept in the loop’ through feedback and regular updates.
  • Contribute to the delivery of a quality service, aiming for 100% satisfaction of the Customer.
  • To ensure the company Health and Safety policy is adhered to.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • A qualified apprentice trained electrician with over 3 years’ experience.
  • Compex (Hazardous Areas) qualifications would be an advantage although not compulsory.
  • A good understanding of different installation methods in an industrial environment, electrical testing and reactive fault finding.
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • A strong communicator and team member who can also work independently as needed.
  • Attention to detail, time management skills and organisational skills are also a vital part of this role.
  • A good understanding of Health and Safety.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
