OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Plumbing & Heating Engineer to work for this multi-disciplined energy provider on the beautiful Island of Jersey with its wonderful beaches, cliffside walking trails, inland valleys and historic castles.

This would be great for someone looking to re-locate to such a beautiful place.

They are the sole supplier of electricity in Jersey, serving around 50,000 domestic and commercial customers. They also have a number of other departments such as commercial and domestic building services, energy solutions and environmental engineering.

Operating for over 90 years, they employ around 350 members of staff and have an annual turnover of over £100m.

This is a permanent position, based in St Helier Jersey, paying £41,343 per annum + van + overtime and many other benefits.

They are very accommodating and even offer a relocation package. This will vary depending on your situation. As part of the relocation package they will provide a £500 per month rental allowance over 16 months until you have got something sorted.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • To carry out maintenance work to heating installations of all types in domestic and commercial buildings and be fully conversant with all aspects of the heating systems.
  • To undertake fault-finding, problem-solving, diagnosis and repair of performance concerns as may affect the operation and proper performance of the plumbing, drainage and heating systems.
  • To carry out and complete all works to a high standard, in a competent manner and to leave the site of works in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To liaise with other staff and external contractors in a positive and cooperative manner and as necessary to ensure the timely and proper completion of works to support reasonable operational expectations.
  • To ensure appropriate and timely completion of all paperwork, job/time sheets and certification.
  • To participate and provide an out of hours emergency service on a periodic basis and in association with the input of others.
  • To act at all times in accordance with the companies rules, policies, procedures and ethos.
  • To supervise, direct and positively motivate junior staff and/or apprentices who may be appointed to assist and support the wider performance of this role.
  • To carry out, as and when required, any additional tasks and responsibilities as are reasonably compatible with this job description and its objectives.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Time Served Plumbing & Heating Engineer.
  • Gas Safe Registered.
  • OFTEC certification beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • An excellent understanding of Health and Safety.
