OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

Due to an increase in workload this established Building Services consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent or long term contract basis. The role will involve carrying out mechanical and public health design duties, overseeing junior staff, providing project management and administration duties. Monitoring design team costs taking into account the programme and budget provided for each of the projects.

 

The Position

  • To implement company procedures policy.
  • To carry out Mechanical design and project management of various types of projects in accordance with the company aims and policies.
  • To manage design team and provide Mechanical engineering support to all Electrical engineers.
  • Liaise with clients and attend meetings on all aspects of the projects.
  • Carry out quality inspections of projects.
  • Use CAD / BIM systems in line with the company procedures using Autocad 2019 and possibly Revit MEP 2019.
  • Monitor financial aspects of projects.
  • Work within and be responsible for Mechanical standards within the organisation.

 

The Person:

  • Degree qualified, preferably Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership
  • Experience and knowledge of current Building Regulations
  • Project management of multi-disciplinary projects
  • Producing detailed specifications
  • Productions of design calculations using manual and software type
  • Production of detailed drawings manually. CAD and Bluebeam experience preferred
  • Production of tender packages
  • Carrying out tender analysis of returned tender packages
  • Production of budget costings for all aspects of services
  • Carry out site surveys in various parts of the UK using own car or public transport for condition surveys, asset management surveys, acquisition surveys, pre-design feasibility surveys
  • Carry out on-site project management
  • Production of budget estimates

* Please note this is a hybrid role working 2/3 days a week from home
