OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity:

This leading international Engineering Consultancy is a specialist service company dedicated to all technical engineering aspects of operating buildings to ensure clients enjoy the whole life benefits inherent in their design. Continued expansion and sustained growth has created a new opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer.

 

The Position:

The successful candidate will be responsible for running medium sized projects, undertaking a client facing role in the development, design and co-ordination of engineering projects. Including the delivery of European data centres and mission critical projects.  As well as healthcare labs and clean rooms.  The co-ordination of engineering project services, with a proven track record in project management.

  • Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes
  • Surveys, tests and reports on existing mechanical installations
  • Specify activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Day to day decision making on project progress, direct liaison with and providing advice to clients
  • Representing the Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractor’s teams
  • Carry out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Responsible for technical content and accuracy of Trainee, Graduates and Engineers
  • Validation and checking of designs and specifications

 

The Person:

You will possess good commercial awareness, in addition to having robust technical knowledge relevant to building services design, and capable of incorporating those technologies into the data centre sector.  The position will ideally suit someone who is currently working in either consultancy or mission critical systems and is prepared to work ‘hands on’.

You will need to possess the following professional and technical expertise:

  • At least HNC/HND qualified. Ideally BEng, MSc
  • MCIBSE/MIEE and appropriate experience or equivalent
  • Competent in specification design/drawing for several building types
  • Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications – word, excel, etc.
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Thorough understanding of British and European Standards/Regulations and Codes
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Managerial skills
