The Opportunity
Our client is a well established, award winning Building Services Consultancy, providing engineering services, design and asset management for the built environment. With over 50 years of experience, continued growth has created a new opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer with a Mechanical & Electrical engineering background.
The Position
The successful candidate will work as part of a team of engineers responsible for the planning and delivery of all projects assigned. To manage them throughout their lifecycle, carry out surveys and complete necessary reports, as well as maintaining positive relationships with clients.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Responsible to the Technical Management Director through direct line management for all aspects of his/her employment.
- Take ownership, prepare and manage all aspects of engineering projects assigned from start to finish and ensure that all work is carried out within the required timescales and budgetary requirements (to include management of sub- consultants e.g., lifts and CCTV) for delivery to the Client.
- Undertake engineering surveys to gather precise information (to include structured notes (written and / or orally recorded) and photographs) in respect of the type of survey being carried out in their various forms e.g., Acquisition, Dilapidations, Condition, Asset Gathering, Maintenance Contract Tendering, Auditing, and Planned Maintenance Programmes.
- Manage Client expectations, project issues, budgets and invoicing.
- Prepare and interpret engineering reports, drawings and layouts etc.
- Perform Building Engineering Services duties in respect of electrical, mechanical and public health systems.
- Ensure that completed engineering survey reports and other relevant technical output is submitted for QA / proofreading at least one working day prior to the due date for issue to the Client which should be done in the form of a diary invite to the Technical Management Director
- Work within the company’s Health & Safety and Environmental Policies.
The Person
- Knowledge of applicable laws and building codes, safety legislation and approved code of practice e.g., L8.
- Qualification to be at least (NVQ3) in building services engineering e.g., Mechanical Engineering and three years’ experience (following qualification) or recognised Engineering Degree.
- Must have effective communication, literacy and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to manage own time and workload.
- Must be completely conversant and competent with Microsoft Office Software Products.
- GCSE English and Mathematics (at least to C grade).
- Possession of a valid passport and EU recognised full driving licence.
