As a Support Technician, you will be based at a client site in White City and Central London, working within a dedicated team responsible for the on-site installation, support, and maintenance of cabling infrastructure across the entire estate.

Whilst you will have strong underlying competencies in the installation of copper and fibre network infrastructure, you will also be expected to have excellent customer service and communication skills, be highly organised and able to work flexibly to meet client demands

By demonstrating solid levels of knowledge, skills and expertise in cabling infrastructure and hardware support, you will handle day to day faults and requests, with a focus on technical excellence and maintaining Health and Safety standards. You will also provide consistently high levels of customer service, this being a vital part of the role, and achieved by working diligently to accurately interpret and deliver our customers’ needs.

Hours are Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform patching on infrastructure frames.
  • Deliver jumpering on infrastructure frames.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line fault finding diagnosis and fixing of SCS.
  • Use testers in a proficient manner.
  • Deliver 1st and 2nd line fault diagnosis on Equipment connectivity.
  • Deliver and coordinate office moves, including disconnecting equipment, reconnecting, and testing.
  • Perform small BAU cabling works, including the installation of Cat6, Cat6a, Fibre and telecoms cabling.
  • Terminate and test Cat6, Cat6a, Fibre and Telecoms cabling.
  • Deliver small infrastructure projects at various sites across London and UK wide (Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester).
  • Meet and communicate with business users to understand their requirements.
  • Act as a single point of contact for IT equipment moves.
  • Track, report, and own issues and incidents daily, escalating to the Client Manager when necessary.
  • Understand and update structured cabling databases.
  • Survey, quote, and plan installations and projects on a small to medium scale.

 

Skills & Attributes

  • A valid ECS/CSCS Card.
  • A relevant qualification, e.g., CNet CNCI®, CNet CNIT ®, BICSI Installer Level 2/3 or a recognised equivalent.
  • At least 3 years relevant practical experience in a similar role.
  • Understand the basic elements of IT network architecture, including the range of cable types and networking equipment.
  • Awareness of server architecture and operation, server configuration and setup management connectivity.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to communicate effectively with colleagues and key stakeholders in the customer’s organisation.
  • Good MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams etc.) and general IT skills.
  • Experience installing mainstream copper and fibre ICT cabling systems.
  • Experience working in live date centre environments.
  • Full, clean Driving Licence.
