OVERVIEW & ROLE DESCRIPTION

Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Junior Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a successful HVAC Facilities company who specialise in commercial hvac systems and mechanical services.

With over 40 years’ experience, they work on a range of sites including schools, offices, hospitals, warehouses, pharmaceutical sites, gyms and many more.

As Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the overall day to day management of the commercial and surveying aspects of HVAC projects. You will work in collaboration with Sales Team and Project Management Team to ensure full understanding of specific project requirements in reaching agreement of contract terms and conditions with clients, whilst maintaining a profitable outcome for the company.

Office working with regular site/projects visits; potential hybrid work to be discussed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Analyse and evaluate contractor bids and proposals.
  • Administer/monitor all commercial aspects of projects.
  • Develop and maintain accurate cost reporting /monitoring/forecasting for: Building works, Engineering works, Preliminaries, Procurement, Design cost/performance and increased cost/market trends.
  • Identify areas of risk/scope and develop with the projects team.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and identify potential cost issues.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project costs to ensure adherence to budgets, track expenses, and identify areas where cost savings can be achieved without compromising quality and safety.
  • Variation costing: Prepare detailed cost estimates for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, including labour, materials, equipment, and associated project expenses.
  • Cost Control: Implement cost control measures and strategies to keep project expenditures within the approved budget, including tracking and reporting on project cost variances.
  • Cost Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all cost-related documents, including invoices, receipts, and financial reports.
  • Review proposals with Designers and select/agree subcontractor & supplier enquiry list.
  • Subcontractor Management: Review and assess subcontractor and supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract terms.
  • Contract Review: Review and evaluate contracts, procurement agreements, and change orders related to pre-commissioning and commissioning to ensure cost compliance.
  • Attend post tender/pre-qual/lessons learnt meetings/handover meetings.

Skills & Attributes

  • Bsc (hons) in Quantity Surveying / HNC equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings would be advantageous.
  • A strong background in HVAC systems.
  • Experience working on commercial build projects.
  • Able to work accurately with figures.
  • Be a pro-active team player/self-motivated & enthusiastic with a can-do attitude.
  • Be punctual and able to work to strict project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK Driving License.
